The Center for the Arts (CFA) serves Wesleyan University's world renown arts departments, and exists as a cultural center for the campus, Middletown and the region by presenting a wide variety of events and exhibitions, ranging from student and faculty works to internationally acclaimed ensembles. The mission of the visiting artist series is to present the highest caliber of artists who extend and/or enhance Wesleyan's curriculum with a focus on those who are true innovators testing the boundaries of their art forms, and whose work emanates from the widest spectrum of world cultures.

I Have Worked With

  • March 2017

    Philadelphia-based Tempesta di Mare performed baroque chamber music from Venice and Naples on period instruments during the Connecticut premiere of A Tale of Two Italian Cities. Featuring trios, quartets, and concerti by Antonio Vivaldi, Alessandro Scarlatti, Dario Castello, Andrea Falconieri, Francesco Mancini, and Giovanni Legrenzi.

  • March 2017

    Urban Bush Woman presented thier Connecticut premier of Walking With Trane, an ethereal investigation conjuring the essence of John Coltrane, inspired by the musical life and spiritual journey of the famed jazz saxophonist. 

    Dancers from the company also taught student workshops on the Wesleyan University campus as well as at a partner organization in the Middletown community. 

    The company first visited Wesleyan in 2006.

     

  • February 2017

    This theater collective presented their performance of texts&beheadings/ElizabethR directed by Karin Coonrod. The artists in texts&beheadings/ElizabathR participated in a group discussion with audience members moderated by a Wesleyan professor of theater.
