Studio Session Live started at HCAM-TV in Hopkinton. TV with a concept by access producer Bob Crownfield. Music, on cable access TV, but with PBS Quality. Studio Session Live is always music: A concert recorded in the studio with a Guest Artist, and then edited for broadcast. 80 programs were recorded, with Guest Artists from MA, ME, RI, VA, and and the UK. When Studio Session Live was first an idea, one of the first goals was to achieve audio and video quality that exceeded the access normal. The second goal was to make sure that nothing we did came between the audience and the guest artist. Studio Session Live is a commitment between the guest artist and the producer. In return for the show that the guest artist creates, we produce the show. The viewer should enjoy the performance, not see the medium.
Destined for public radio, Studio Session Live produces a radio show. Join Studio Session Live host Dave Palmeter on the air every week as he brings you another hour of good music. The guest may be a solo singer songwriter, or a band. They may come from next door, or across the country. What they will always have in common is very good music. Dave will introduce them and their music, and give you a view behind the scenes as he interviews them, and finds out about them and their music.
We go into our second year of weekly one hour shows. Each show has about 48 minutes of music, and two 4 minute interviews.
