I work to connect people of all ages and abilities to creativity and imagination. With inspiration from science, technology and our ecologies I facilitate thinking and creating on environmental issues, community and health. Recently I have been creating glowing "plastic plankton"; post-consumer repurposed plastics with LEDs and solar cells. I enjoy creating mosaics to reflect a collective community. And run Art from the Heart, an arts in healthcare program, to connect patients, families and staff with creativity, art and devoted volunteer time during challenging times in the hospital.
All things, histories, and particles are connected and pulsing.
How do we treat materials, how do we treat each other?
What is lost, and what can be found?
I seek by creating art. Art to build knowledge, beauty and appreciation of the complexities of our world.
Art to nurture biophilia.
Focusing on ecological issues including energy, health and resources.
Exploring and playing with our habits of consumption and creativity.
Collaborating with materials, processes and cycles from technology to organic growth and decay, to relating and creating with groups and individuals.
Grappling with understanding and inviting the re-envisioning of our spirited and patterned worlds: grotesque, sublime and beautiful.
