Profile Type: Artist
Patricia Campbell, Dance Caller

Patricia Campbell's main passion is using traditional dance to bring people together in community. With The Reel Thing, a band based in western CT specializing in music for traditional and historical social dances including costumed authentic 18th century colonial dances and concerts, dance workshops for children and adults, and community & "barn" dances, Patricia can provide an exciting experience for your group at any dancing level. She is available, too, as a solo artist, using recorded music or with your own musicians. A diverse sample of dances can be seen on Patricia's youtube channel as well as her FB page Patricia Campbell, Dance Caller.

When in-person dancing was not an option, Patricia started DanceTogether...Apart as a Zoom-based alternative. This is still available and it allows people from all over to dance together!

A dance leader and consultant with experience calling dances for families, schools, libraries and other community organizations, she also specialize in authentic 18th century dance and music for historical societies, re-enactment events, and private groups. Patricia works year-round with seniors at a local senior center and completed the Introductory Teacher Training for Dance for PD* (*Parkinson's Disease) at the Mark Morris Dance Center, NYC. She is currently on the Faculty of the Housatonic Valley Waldorf School as the resident Traditional Dance Teacher.

Patricia is a member of the CT Library Consortium, along with others including CAFC - Cultural Alliance of Fairfield County (CT) and Lifetime Arts.

Patricia's focus is Community Dance, and her repertoire includes New England contra-style dance, Colonial/18th century dance, square and folk dances. Participants experience the fun and joy of traditional dance through Patricia's lively and clear guidance. Get a group together - have a dance!
