Now Playing Newport Music Series

The Now Playing Newport Music Series is a re-incarnation of the Music for a Sunday Afternoon Music Series which ran from 2003-2008. It was suspended when the director became founder of the Memphremagog Arts Collaboative (MAC) in Newport and served a s president and creative director for 6 years.

Now Playing Newport began in November of 2013 with monthly programs.

St. Mark's Episcopal Church is a small, intimate venue, perfect for smaller groups. It seats 110 and has wonderful acoustics.

Beginning in 2017, The Series has added the United Church of Newport as a venue. It seat's 200 and can accomodate larger groups and has video capabilities for broadcast on local cable station. Also, in 2017, we will become a venue site for the Newport Jazz Festival (VT).

Groups that have performed, in addition to the Newport Area Community Orchestra Ensembe Groups, are Inora Brass Quintet, Swing North Big Band, Social Band, North Country Brass Quintet, Green Mountain Chorus, and several individuals/duos.

Because we served and under-served population, our admission prices are never more than $10. We are supported by local businesses, indivduals and grants, when available. We have received several grants from the Vermont Community Foundation.

We have also held free Music/Luncheon progams for seniors.

We are a member of ASCAP.
