MUSEUM OF PAPER HISTORY / THE RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF PAPER HISTORY & TECHNOLOGY, INC.

The organization is housed in a handsome, 100-year old building in Brookline, originally used as a carriage house. Now the building houses both a complete hand papermaking facility, and a museum of international papermaking that holds a tremendous collection of books, handmade papers and artifacts used in the making of paper.
The first floor of the Carriage House is an active papermaking studio for teaching and working. The second floor contains the museum display, featuring an exhibition of rare books dealing with historical papermaking, handmade papers that represent nearly every part of the world, and tools and equipment that have been used for making paper over the centuries.
The Research Institute organizes special tours to old papermaking villages in remote parts of Asia. Most importantly, the Institute produces documentary videos, books and other writings about traditional papermaking based upon field expeditions throughout the world the world.
