I am a movement-based performing artist and choreographer influenced by post-modern dance, musical theatre, jazz music, experimental film, and the healing arts. My goal in choreographing temporal, performance-based work is explore relationships between people and their environments to find an understanding of various expressions of identity, individuality, and community. How do we as humans move through space and time, and how we can do so most efficiently, expressively, and pain free? (Or rather, how to let pain/stress inform our choices and self-awareness, in turn benefiting the greater good?) I address these ideas by creating site or event specific performances, screendances, and original dance theatre. I strive for my work to be accessible and entertaining in an effort to reciprocally connect with the viewing audience in order to have an actual impact on the “greater good”.
