Jeh Kulu Dance and Drum Theatre

Vermont’s Premier West African Dance and Drum Theater, founded in 1993, is a non-profit educational and performance ensemble based in Burlington, VT. This large multicultural ensemble offers traditional rhythms and dances from Guinea, Senegal, and Mali, West Africa.

Master Artists and highly trained U.S. American artists joyfully demonstrate the complex polyrhythm played on traditional drums accompanied by exciting choreography. Jeh Kulu performs regularly at local events, well known music venues, parties, and weddings. Our workshops and residencies are unique as well as highly engaging and educational. A supportive environment is created where the group can bond as a community, and individual creativity can blossom.

Jeh Kulu is a local treasure, pleasing audiences and students with passion and energy as well as professionalism and expertise. Powered by the irrepressible spirit of West African dance and drumming, Jeh Kulu programs are sure to entertain and inspire.
