I am a physician assistant with 40 years experience in orthopedic surgery, sports medicine, hand surgery, and for the last 10 years, treating musculo-skeletal problems in the performing artist.
I am a member of the Performing Arts Medicine Association (PAMA).
I want to offer a resource for New England-based musicians and other performers who have a performance-related injury or other orthopaedic condition that is significantly impacting their performance.
I have joined with other local practitioners, including physical and occupational therapists, acupuncturists to provide a multi-modal treatment approach to return the performer to peak performance levels, fully understanding the unique characteristics and needs of the artist.
I can also provide powerpoint presentations about injuries treatment and prevention, Noise-Induced hearing loss, and performance anxiety, as well as informational sheets to be placed in green rooms and music instructional facilities covering a wide range of topics about performance.
Finally, I am interested in establishing a program for performers, similar to those in existance for athletes, that supports the performer from the first time they pick up an instrument to professional status, , incorporating multiple disciplines of research, education, coaching, training, nutrition, psychology, and treatment of injuries.
