International Festival of Arts & Ideas

Internationally acclaimed dance, an eclectic array of world-class musicians, breathtaking circus, ground-breaking theatre and engaging speakers define the Festival as our region’s premier arts and culture destination. Over 200 events take place during our "Festival Time" in June and our year-round community programs include town-hall events, a fellowship program for youth, planning mini-festivals in local neighborhoods, and our Visionary Leadership Award. Over 85% of all programs are free, and the Festival provides significant discounts for community members who otherwise would not be able to afford to attend ticketed programs. Angelique Kidjo, Bristol Old Vic, Handspring Puppet Company, Rosanne Cash, National Theatre of Scotland, Yo-Yo Ma, Druid Theatre, Kronos Quartet, Spike Lee, Claudia Rankine, and Salman Rushdie have all shared their talents and ideas. The Yale campus and New Haven’s historic downtown streets form the perfect backdrop for this highly accessible, international event.
