Camp Methodios, Clement Pond, Contoocook, New Hampshire
Join us each September for a weekend of music, learning, and fun!
Now in our 22nd year!
The Fiddleheads Acoustic JamCamp (formerly Fiddleheads Camp) is organized by experienced fiddlers Kathy Sommer (Zimpfer) and Ellen Carlson with the support of other coaches, volunteers and helpers. The focus of this three-day JamCamp is to teach and inspire musicians to play with each other in various styles--both singing and instrumental--and to experience a band setting. The weekend features hours of jams, workshops and concerts throughout the day. We form bands of various styles, practice playing with others and perform in an energy-filled Saturday evening concert. Jamming of various styles happens Friday and Saturday evenings. The guided jams focus on jamming essentials and techniques (hearing chords, backup, playing in different styles, soloing and more!) JamCamp coaches are not only good musicians but are also good teachers and have played in numerous bands of various styles.
Specific descriptions of the 30+ workshops throughout the weekend can be downloaded at our website. Typical workshops may include:
- Learn a Swing Tune
- Fiddle Tunes for Beginners
- How to Lead a Tune in a Jam
- Beginning Blues and Jazz Jam
- 2-Chord Jamming
- Bluegrass Harmony
- as well as several other vocal and instrument-specific workshops, check back in August each year for final workshop descriptions.
All of the camp coaches (approx. 15) are excellent musicians and teachers and have played in many different styles of bands; each coach bringing a different area of expertise to the lineup. Learn more about the camp coaches at www.FiddleheadsCamp.com
