DiTa Ondek

DiTa Ondek has worked with watercolors for 15 years and other media (Polaroid transfers and digital photography) with past gallery shows in Texas, Connecticut, Maine, New York and Florida. (1985-2000). She also has an  encaustic piece in the  permanent collection in Brick Store Museum Gallery, in Kennebunk, ME

Recently, she is experimenting with abstract acrylics. She is known among her fellow artists as a "colorist." This exhibit highlights her new Japanese Kimono Abstracts in large paintings.  Every painting is like a wonderland reflection of the best parts of her world. The sizes of these acrylic abstracts range from 4”x4” to 30”x40”, the majority of the pieces are 12”x12” and 20”x20”.

Ever impulsive, bright, and whimsical, DiTa's artwork reflects the vibrant colors of her soul. There's an integrity and honesty captured in each piece that will inspire a sense of wonder and exploration in her viewers and collectors.

” My work is a connection to my everyday: evocative colors, unexpected patterns of light or the sublime quality of ordinary objects. Beginning with canvases primed black, I work to create a current, vibrant painting. My paintings evolve with fearless broad strokes and bright colors from drawings, plein air sketches or photographs. While being primarily self-taught, I have combined the influence of prominent artists such as Kusama. Basquiat, Gauguin and Matisse to develop a style of my own: images -moments frozen fresh and bright. \

Poet: DiTa is also a poet & has been published 6 chapbooks including “how a panther must hold a raven”, “reach up and trap a handful of sky “and “A Goldfinch’s Winter.” Her poetic aesthetic is whimsical yet controlled. She enjoys writing in traditional forms as well as in free verse. She was recently included in the Autumn Edition 2018 of the Maine Review with her poem "What's in the Air?"

There is an amazing variety of paintings with a chapbook of her ekphrastic poetry called  East Meɘts West, marrying  the series of abstract Japanese/Americanized  ekphrastic work, where  the title of each painting is the first line of a poem.

Publisher: Inked Toad Press is an independent publishing company under the DiTa Group LLC umbrella. They are located in Tenants Harbor, Maine. Publish poetry, verse, free verse or prose poetry. She will also do memoir chapbooks. Recently published a cookbook for the Ocean View Grange 2018. Chapbooks and full-length books available. Work one-to-one with the publisher, DiTa.
