DISCOVER JAZZ FESTIVAL

In 1983 the Burlington Discover Jazz Festival gave Vermont’s flourishing jazz community the recognition it deserved – a celebration combining incredible local talent with jazz legends from every corner of the globe. Throughout the event the city comes alive at:

Performances in intimate venues
Waterfront concerts
Street parties
Meet-the-artist sessions
Master Classes
Workshops
World-Class Programming
Throughout the Festival music resonates from every corner of Downtown Burlington — from the region’s premier performing arts facility, the Flynn Center, to the Church Street Marketplace stages, to Waterfront and City Hall Parks, to neighborhood clubs and restaurants. This 10-day event has become a tradition, a chance for the community to revel in jazz’s spectrum of different forms and an opportunity for fans to learn from and meet the world-renowned artists who have inspired them for years.

Past Headliners of the Festival Include:
Sonny Rollins
Trey Anastasio
Bela Fleck
Bettye LaVette
Ella Fitzgerald
Chick Corea
Dave Brubeck
Ornette Coleman
Dianne Reeves
Madeleine Peyroux
Skatalites
Dizzy Gillespie
…and countless others

Festival Support
Presented by Northfield Savings Bank and produced by the Flynn Center for the Performing Arts, in association with Burlington City Arts, the festival is one of the largest annual events in Vermont.

Festival Mission
To broaden awareness and appreciation of jazz through quality live performances of national and regional scope; present educational activities that illuminate the art form for students of all ages and backgrounds; showcase Vermont and regional jazz artists, including students; and create a vital city-wide community festival that contributes to the national jazz dialogue.
