Capitol Center for the Arts

Brought back to life by a vibrant band of community leaders, the Capitol Center for the Arts was re-opened in 1995 after years of neglect and disrepair, and for the past eighteen years, the Capitol Center for the Arts has reached hundreds of thousands of audience members through music, comedy, dance, theater, broadcast presentations, family entertainment and Broadway favorites. The Center is committed to the presentation of those art forms that are not readily available in the central New Hampshire region, including contemporary dance, ballet, opera, professional theater, and professional children’s programming. Additionally, the Capitol Center places great emphasis on its education programs and partnerships that foster critical thinking and literacy skills through deep engagement in the performing arts. Through the CCA’s “Angel Ticket” program, nearly 1,000 individuals each year are able to experience live performance free of charge through tickets donated to social services agencies and organizations. The role of the Capitol Center as a cultural and economic anchor of Concord speaks not only to its role in the marketplace but also to its work of using the performing arts to bring communities together to experience different cultures and art forms, celebrate our commonalities and embrace our differences
