CAPE ANN MUSEUM

The Cape Ann Museum tells multiple stories, all relating to a singularly remarkable place: Cape Ann. The Museum holds the preeminent collection of paintings and drawings by the American maritime artist Fitz Henry Lane (1804-1865); a permament collection of the work of Cape Ann visual artists and sculptors of the 19th and 20th centuries; the largest collection of the work of the Folly Cove Designers, a guild of textile designer-craftsmen who worked together from 1941 until 1969; two galleries dedicated to the history of the maritime trade and the fishing industry; a gallery relating to Cape Ann's granite industry which flourished in the 19th century and ended in the 1930s; and two historic houses, The White-Ellery House (1709) and The Captain Elias Davis House (1804). The Museum offers special exhibitions and public programs throughout the year.
