An actor, director, choreographer, devisor and educator.
ARTIST STATEMENT:
As community and communication are central to my art practice - in particular, embodied, non-verbal types - I use my body and mind as the instruments to craft characters and productions with an emphasis on physicality and images that will inspire the audience. Through the power of art and the shared human experience, I tap into the humanity of the soul to welcome a unity of the people.
An additional way to bring about this unity is through my teaching. I strive to find that thrilling and addictive moment when one tastes the excitement of creativity. I find that it can occur when like-minded people work together to create a piece of theatre or when a student is left to play with no inhibition. It is in that split second when you stop doubting yourself and that you freely create. Your body knows; your intuition knows. I thrive to achieve this place of safety where hesitation may disappear and the art can speak for itself. I feel this environment is crucial to the development of an ensemble creator and community member.
