Will Dailey

Will Dailey is an independent, Boston-based recording and performing artist. His sound has been described as having a rich vintage vibe while having a firm appreciation of AM rock, pop and big hooks.

He is notable as being the 3 time winner of the Boston Music Award for Best Male Singer-Songwriter in 2006 and again on December 2, 2009 and December 2, 2012. He has released albums with Universal, CBS Records, Wheelkick Records and JS Music Group. Dailey has released three full-length albums since 2004. His last full length album, Will Dailey & The Rivals, came out on Universal Republic Records, on September 20, 2011. On September 21, 2011, Rick Florino of [Artist Direct] said of the album, "it's not only his most inspired work yet, it's one of the best rock releases of 2011."

In 2009 and 2010, Dailey released Torrent, which involved the artist digitally releasing a burst of new music approximately every three months, and then compiling that material, along with bonus material, as a physical and digital audio package twice a year. Dailey is also a part of the John Mellencamp and Stephen King musical project Ghost Brothers of Darkland County. Dailey is releasing his new album National Throat in 2014 on Wheelkick Records. The first single, "Sunken Ship", is a finalist in the 2013 International Songwriting Competition.

Will Dailey chose to deviate from that predestined path of cogs and commercialism. He willfully parted ways from one of the world’s largest record labels to produce his latest full-length album.

Now independent, Dailey tells the story of that journey here:  http://youtu.be/6BCgjCe2Zns

“People have been complaining about change in the music industry for centuries but artists make art because they have to,” Dailey says. “I write songs because they happen to me; it fuels my life and I see it fuel other people’s lives… Nothing can disrupt that.  This album of songs is about doing this because you have to.”  National Throat  tells this story through music of what John Philip Sousa long ago lamenting the demise of music with the advent of music recording technology.

Featuring 11 new tracks on his new album, National Throat is a thriving embodiment of an authentic American Dream. It is a registry of a national reverie, one brought to fruition through a musician’s pursuit of art in its rawest form. It is music felt, not contrived. It is fresh soul untarnished by the grease of cogs or disks, left pure in the midst of a virulent commercial world.

Will is a true, modern day, "DIY Artist" with a very compelling and educational story to share with other New England Artists and serious music fans.  He successfully funded National Throat entirely through a crowdfunding platform; and has much wisdom to share on ways to authentically engage with fans, navigate pitfalls, and grow as an artist in the era of the DIY-artist-entrepreneur.
