Valerie Tutson graduated from Brown University with a Masters Degree in Theatre Arts and a degree in Storytelling as a Communication's Art. Valerie draws her performance stories from around the world with an emphasis on African traditions. Her repertoire includes stories from the Underground Railroad as well as the first person characterization of Ellen Craft. In addition Valerie also shares stories celebrating the lives of notable Rhode Island black women Duchess Quamino and Nancy Elizabeth Prophet. Valerie also offers workshops for students and teachers in theater, storytelling and story writing. Appropriate grade levels for performances include grades Pre-K through 12. Workshops grades 3 to adult.
