Surcari

Surcari is an award-winning performance group originally from Chile and Puerto Rico under the musical direction of guitarist Lorena Garay. The group performs a blend of traditional and original Latin American, Andean, Afro-Caribbean, Spanish, and world music on a wide array of traditional instruments. Surcari's community concerts are colorful and engaging; school performances are interactive and participatory; lecture demonstrations and professional development workshops are well rounded and enriching. Their artistic and educational programs include irresistible instrumental and vocal music from different Spanish-speaking cultures!

Surcari is on the roster of Young Audiences Arts for Learning Connecticut, the Arts Department of Economic and Community Development’s Directory of Performing and Teaching Artists, and the New England Foundation for the Arts/New England States Touring (NEST) Roster.
