Rob Velella is an independent literary historian and playwright specializing in American literature of the 19th century. In his ongoing efforts to bring the writers of yesterday back to the readers of today, he has dramatically brought to life literary figures Nathaniel Hawthorne and Edgar Allan Poe, for which he has been featured on National Public Radio and the LA Review of Books. His living history performances have played in libraries, schools, museums, and for other community groups in 13 states (so far).
Rob's programs are fun and lively -- and easy to stage. All you provide is a podium and Rob does the rest! These programs are interactive and spontaneous, not stiff and not overloaded with dates and history. Instead, Rob highlights the literature of these powerhouse authors and the context of their writing and their time period. By the end of one of Rob's 50-minute presentations, audience members will be dying (no pun intended) to know more about these writers and their works.
