-Nick Noble, The Folk Revival, WICN, Worcester Public Radio

"A transcending, groovy set that will open your heart, calm your mind, ignite your soul."
-Ginger Boermeester, Roots Yoga Burlington MA

Penn Johnson is part of a dying breed; wandering the world in search of fresh vegetables, fellow ramblers, and a place to hang his hat. A storyteller by nature and a folksinger by trade, he's chiseled himself a genre dubbed SoulFolk Storytelling inspired by talkin' blues, soulful lyrics, mind/body meditation, & yoga. He's spent the last couple of years on the road telling stories and entertaining a myriad of audiences.

Driven by the folksinging heroes of the past, he seeks to turn all his experiences into lessons and comical memories and, for the most part, succeeds. An avid reader of the Beatific generation––and a creative writer by the standards of upper education––his posts and stories are often written and will soon culminate in a series of essays and prose titled: 'Behind The Lorax.'

At live shows, Penn's unique style is more reminiscent of spoken word than folk music. His gruff vocals latch onto catchy hooks and upbeat strums, encouraging audiences to drift away into their minds and release their spirits through movement. Amidst timeless, groovy, & funkadelic acoustic songs, Penn's stories give stream-of-consciousness vignettes of his experiences –– ranging from hitch-hiking in Australia to death threats in Pennsylvania –– and call for a return to a peaceful existence.

In a world of distraction, fear, and hate, these stories bind us together reminding us of our collective consciousness. Penn plays for everyone and every occasion accompanied by whoever is right for the gig. He's joined forces with the March Against Monsanto, Bernie Sanders, and all sorts of musicians since he hit the road. He plays most of his shows on a Seagull Natural Elements guitar and urges others to practice stewardship toward the earth in their everyday lives.

Another hippie with a dream & a guitar, he mostly sings about trees, bees, & keepin' the peace.  He's currently working on his second full-length solo album 'Experiencing Turbulence' due out this summer.
