Nickel Jukebox is a 6 piece All-Motown band begun in 2011. The band is fronted by 2 dynamic female singers and backed by seasoned pros on bass, guitar, drums, and keyboards/sax. Some of the numbers are done much like the original, but the band also incorporates rock, blues, jazz, funk, country, jam band, and psychedelicmusic into the sound. Angela B. is an engaging frontperson, and the other lead singer is Becky Bass from St. Croix. Becky also plays virtuoso steel pan drum - giving several of the numbers a distinctive Reggae/Carribean flavor. So it is Motown with a twist.
The band plays clubs and private functions, and has also played many outdoor park concerts. They invariably get a wonderful response. People love these great old songs by the Supremes, Tempations, 4 Tops, Marvin Gaye, Martha and the Vandellas and Stevie Wonder. But the crowds also love the creative interpretations of the songs and the cool solos on guitar, sax, keys, and steel drum when the band stretches out.
Price is extremely reasonable.
