Since 1997, Mystic Ballet has been dedicated to the production and presentation of a diverse range of contemporary dance works. Led by Goran Subotic, who serves as Artistic Director, Mystic Ballet has been recognized by the State of Connecticut, for its ongoing contribution to the cultural and artistic life of the region. The extraordinary talent and creative genius of Goran Subotic and the Mystic Ballet have brought a new dimension of beauty to our community and our state.
The Company has performed Subotic’s works at Fox Theater at Foxwoods Resort Casino, as well as the Grand Theater at MGM Grand. His works have been presented across New England, Europe, Asia, and Central America, at Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, Bitef Dance Festival in Serbia, and BallettGala Germany. Mystic Ballet’s higher educational programs are federally recognized, and SEVP certified.
Its students, dancers, and artists utilize and train in Mystic Ballet's own idiosyncratic artistic ideology: TIC Technique. TIC favors freedom of action for the individual over the collective, and is an essential and unorthodox approach for artists to connect to today’s audiences.
TIC Technique workshops have been held in Paris, Milan, Florence, Rome, London, Leeds, Barcelona, Frankfurt, Tokyo, Osaka, Kanazawa, Kyoto, New York, Taiwan, and Australia.
Through innovative methods we are redefining the image of performing arts by using dance as an engine for economic development and a magnet for innovation, diversity, and creativity.
In 2015, the company partnered with the conceptual performance venue Mystic Dark Room, which for the last three years has been TripAdvisor’s traveler ranked number one attraction in Mystic, and Connecticut, the top Hidden Gem in New England, and a top listing based on traveler ranked reviews for concerts and shows.
