Marilyn Busch is a New England based publicist, graphic designer, and freelance writer. Born in Boston, she graduated from RI College with a B.A. in Theatre Performance and then pursued a career in acting and directing. Marilyn started her professional career with Providence’s Perishable Theatre Arts Center as a performing artist. She simultaneously worked on the admin side, first as Publicist and soon as Director of Marketing & PR. As Perishable expanded their new play programs, classes and special artist events (such as Diamanda Galas, Philip Glass, Lisa Keon) Marilyn was a key senior member of the artistic and administrative staff over the next 10 seasons.
Marilyn was then invited to join the Marketing & Communications creative team at Trinity Rep, Rhode Island’s only Tony-award winning theater company. During her tenure at Trinity, she was promoted to Director of Marketing & Public Relations and was responsible for over $3M in annual revenue, audience development, subscriber retention and organizational brand management.
Marilyn now lives in rural Rhode Island with her husband, where they are raising their three rambunctious young boys at Camp Busch. Still juggling multiple projects, she also works as a film & television actress, arts consultant, grant writer and web designer. She is a proud member of the American Theater Critics Association, Theater Communications Group, Americans for the Arts, Public Relations Society of America and the Rhode Island Press Association. She serves on the Board of the music venue Blackstone River Theater.
