Lisa M. Condino

I am a visual artist with a background in a multitude of mediums. I've passionately devoted my career to using the power of the arts to support learning, empower individuals, and build community. I have a variety of classroom teaching experience engaging students from pre-school through adulthood, including therapeutic settings. In addition to my Fine Arts training, I hold a certificate of Art Therapy from Northwestern University. Providing a safe environment for creative expression and inclusion of all students are at the root of my teaching. I thrive on working with students, collaborating with educators, and other artists.

In addition to facilitating workshops for professional development & painting public murals, I am currently a teaching artist for VSA Vermont. I have been the Artist-in-Residence at the Baird School since the WInter of 2015 collaborating with their teachers to integrate art into the curriculum for grades k-8. Since 2012 I have also been a teaching artist for VSA Vermont's early childhood arts-based literacy program called Start With The Arts. During the Fall of 2015 a team of VSA individuals were selected to attend a workshop entitled Facilitative Leadership For Social Change, with this training we designed and implemented an early childhood arts-based Family Engagement Pilot that has been funded and presently still in session at various sights in Vermont

Regarding my personal artwork, I had twenty-five new mixed media art pieces in the show ROOTS this past May 2016.

Beginning this Fall of 2016, I will be the lead teacher in a course I've designed in Parnership with VSA Vermont and the Baird School entitled Arts to Smarts. This course is for teaching artists interested in using art to engage & inspire reluctant learners with severe emotional and behavioral challanges.

In the Fall of 2014, I was juried and selected to work with ten other Vermont teaching artists and partook in Arts Connect! This is a program that concentrates on merging the Universal Design for Learning with Arts Integration. This course has opened up a wealth of opportunities for me to connect with many student artists of varying abilities.

I began mentoring for MiddCORE at Middlebury College during January Term 2012 and continue to do so. MiddCORE is a mentor-driven, experiential-learning program that builds skills, creates opportunities, and expands networks for tomorrow's leaders and innovators. I design and facilitate a variety of workshops for the college students that develop visual thinking, ideation and creativity. Most recently, I partnered with the MiddCORE plus summer students and facilitated a community based art challange that culminated in an art installation entitled the "Gratitude Project". This installation continued to be on view for three consecutive months during the Middlebury, VT Arts Walk.
