Leslie Bulion, Children's Author

I use my background in science to create middle grade novels and science poetry for children ages 5-100. During my interactive presentations for small or large groups, students learn how “juicy science stories” lend themselves to the rhyme and rhythm of poetry, and also how science ideas work their way into fictional stories. Research is an integral part of any non-fiction writing, and I share with students how I go about finding and using accurate information to communicate non-fiction ideas in novel ways. Students and educators experience a seamless integration of science, language arts, music, and art with limitless possibilities for multisensory, multimedia learning. In small group breakout workshops, poetry writing practice can be adapted to any classroom's current science study.Length: one hour. Presentation requires lcd projector, screen, and laptop setup. Grades 2-6, maximum of three presentations/workshops per day.For more information, please visit me at www.lesliebulion.com
