Our one hour long lecture/demonstration includes a short history of hula in Hawaii in which we tell of the origins of the hula and what hula was like prior to the missionaries arrival, and the evolution of hula to today. We perform the various types of hula and dance steps and explain the differences between them. We show and tell about the instruments and accessories, and demonstrate how they are used in hula. We can aslo teach some of the steps and a simple hula. This is a great program for libraries, schools. Both adults and children find it entertaining, and a fun learning experience. Our presentations have been "both well attended and well received" (D. H., Dir. of Thayer Public Library
