Profile Type: Artist
Kim Rumberger

Kim is a local jewelry artist and precious metal clay jewelry instructor at the Cape Cod Museum of Art in Dennis, Cape Cod Bead Society, Zion Museum and Cape Cod Makers. Kim also is a 4H Youth Instructor for Cape Cod Cooperative Extension and uses art to teach children math, science and engineering.

She creates one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces from a wide variety of materials, such as silver, crystal, bone, pewter, glass and Greek clay beads, semi-precious stones, leather and hand poured resin.  Many of the clasps, charms and pendants are made from precious metal clay, which is fired to become 99.99% pure silver, and tarnish resistant.  Kim's designs are inspired by the natural beauty and surroundings of Cape Cod, and incorporate the patterns and colors of our unique plants, animals, water and sunshine.

She has been making jewelry since grade school, and took a break to raise 3 children and have a career before recently retiring early and returning to the jewelry world to practice her art. Most recently, during the "break", Kim worked for Barnstable Public Schools, as a subsitute teacher for just over a year, then as a Tecghnology Teaching Assistant at Barnstable West Barnstale Elementary School for 3 years, and finally in the District Technology Department from 2005 until 2015. She also held a part-time job at A.C. Moore (art supply store, Hyannis, MA) as the Classroom Coordinator (hiring local artists to teach classes there, and she taught classes herself), and she taught youth art classes for Barnstable County Cooperative Extension 4H atlocal libraries and the county fairgrounds before goiing full time at the school system. Kim's jewelry art has been twice accepted in juried shows at the Creative Arts Center in Chatham MA (2014 and 2015). This year she placed frst in the All Cape Art Show in 3D Art with a sculptural pendant (shown as the profile image.)  She is also juried by the Town of Barnstable as a Shanty Artist in the HyArts District and will be teachig classes at the Guyer Barn beginning in the Fall of 2015.  She has also been accepted as an artist in the Orleans Artist Cottages and spent Columbus Day weekend 2015 as a visiting artist there.
