To create with one's hands a cosmic masterpiece first derived from fleeting thoughts scrambled around in our brain; that is art. What started out as a small kindness and a desire to keep loved ones safe, transformed itself into a business. Mask making has been the ultimate expression of not only my desire to create through a physical product, but to promote and enlighten those around me that Native art AND Native artists are alive, well, and thriving.

Tomaquag Museum is run by Narragansett Native Loren Spears. I began selling through Tomaquag Museum last summer. Selling through this venue was so fitting because it speaks directly to my Indigenous roots right on the land of my ancestors. This cultural gathering space speaks of our regalia, our foods, language and land. The fact that I only sell Native print masks gave me the opportunity to truly connect with my blood line and expose our culture's beauty to the outside world.

The Purple Shell is owned and operate by Native Artist Allen Hazard, Narragansett. Allen is a world renouned jewelry maker, using our tribes form of historical currency- Wampum. I began selling through The Purple Shell in March of 2020 almost right as the Pandemic began.I started out with flat face coverings with a variety of animal prints. I moved on from that style to a folded and expandable face covering with very stretchy hair elastics. My final mask improvement was creating a stensil, upgrading to using only Native printed material and created a mask that dipped just below the eyes and comfortably around the cheeks. All of the native cotton fabric that I purchase is also from a Native owned vendor out of Arizona.
