Julia Pistell

Julia Pistell is a writer living in Hartford, CT. Julia has her MFA in Nonfiction from the Bennington Writing Seminars, where she studied under the excellent tutelage of Bernard Cooper, Susan Cheever, Philip Lopate, Tom Bissell, and Wyatt Mason.  Pistell is the recipient of a 2010 Solo Writers Fellowship from the Greater Hartford Arts Council as well as a 2011 Arts and Heritage Jobs grant from the City of Hartford. Her work has appeared in the Sunday Star-Ledger, the Hartford Advocate, and many other publications. A featured reader at Real Art Ways, regular guest on WNPR, and founder of the reading series Syllable, Julia is an enthusiastic contributor to the Connecticut literary community. She is one-third of the nationally popular literary criticism podcast, Literary Disco, along with Tod Goldberg and Rider Strong.
