Horsechestnut Winds™: Arts and Learning thru Movement

Rewrite 9/18/17
I am Rebecca R Burrill, Ed.D–dancer, artistic director/choreographer, movement-based child developmentalist, and educator.

I am a self-producing artist. I work with communities and site-specific dance-based arts. To this work there is inherent a facet of human-relationship-with-Nature embedded in non-verbal languaging, movement and art making—a form of site-specific, ecological art. At this time I am working alone, but can and have work with an impromptu company of dancers. Performance is ceremonial in intent dealing in relationship with community and place.

I am also am a dance based story-teller and integrate solo performance accompanied by improvisational musician with workshop-performance with and by audience members.

I have a Doctorate in Education focusing on brain evolution, child development, art making, learning, and literacy. My Masters work focused on creative process and dance. I am Massachusetts Certified in Elementary Education and Professional Development Providing. I am a trained Observer and Notator of movement-language in the Kestenberg Movement Dance Therapy System. I have trained in the mind-body integrative and repatterning systems of Educational Kinesiology and Rhythmic Movement Training (primitive and postural reflexes).

I trace the evolution of human intelligence back to primal people’s relationship with Nature, a relationship that was instrumental in the development of language and art making. With these understandings I seek to renew human engagement with the primary creative intelligences of movement, sound, feeling, imagination, and ecological conscious and their natural healing, developmental, and aesthetic capacities.

I am founder and director of Horsechestnut Winds™: Arts and Learning thru Movement—an educational organization dedicated to advocating for the expression and cultivation of natural learning founded in evolutionary and developmental processes; and providing programing such as Arts with Literacy Integration™, and Languages of Nature Languages of Arts™. I work with people of all ages and have published many articles and made two video documentaries concerning my work, which can be found on my website: http://horsechestnutwinds.com/

My Fees are variable and tailored to specific community, site, and event. If applying an hourly rate: Minimum: $35/hour; Maximum: $100/hour
