Gail Wade

Gail Wade’s music is an evocative mélange of Americana, bluegrass and blues. A strong guitarist with a rich, soulful voice, Wade’s interpretations of the classics are fresh and her original songs beautifully crafted. For twenty years she has performed on stages in the U.S., Ireland, and Europe. She has toured as a member of The Hot Flashes, as a duo partner with blues guitarist Brooks Williams and as a side-musician with singer-songwriter Gary Ferguson. In recent years she has stepped to the forefront, recording Journey, her debut CD and her second release , October Moon in 2012. As well as performing solo, Gail currently tours with her own band “Turning Point” featuring some of CT’s finest acoustic musicians.

In addition to perfoming, Wade spends much of her time providing private quitar instruction to young people as well as adults. Fostering and developing an appreciation of traditional styles of music in young people is a passion she believes in very strongly.

“Gail's enticing vocal range permits her to move with ease from sultry and mischievous to poignant and heartwarming.” Joe Falletta, Bluegrass Now Magazine
“Similar to Karla Bonoff's singing, Gail Wade's alluring voice is silky smooth, and her folk/blues-based repertoire make for an enchanting listen.”  Joe Ross

I Have Worked With

  • August 2014

For the past 8 years I have been the guitar iinstructor at The Podunk Bluegrass Festival Kid's Academy which began in East Hartford, Ct and now resides at The Hebron Fair Grounds, Hebron, CT.  This is a yearly 3 day event in which we take young students, most of whom have never been exposed to Bluegrass before, and give them a chance to learn their instrument of choice.  The end of our intense 3-day study cluminates in a performance on the main stage of the festival. The participating young people feel a great sence of comraderie and accomplishment upon completion of the program. As an instructor, it is the highlight of my teaching year!!

  • July 2011

Gail Wade and Turning Point has performed at the Goff House Concert Series on many occasions over the past 10 years.

  • April 2009

I performed a private concert at their annual concert series.
