Mission Statement: The Flynn Center for the Performing Arts fosters the enjoyment, understanding, and development of the performing arts in Vermont through diverse and engaging artistic experiences.
The Flynn Center is the largest arts organization in Vermont, presenting world-class performances, arts education classes, workshops and exhibitions. It encompasses a restored 1411-seat Art Deco theater, 180-seat blackbox experimental space, two studios and a gallery. The Flynn curates a season of music, dance, theater, and multidisciplinary work as well as contemporary and experimental genres and is home to many Vermont performing groups. The Flynn presents an annual Student Matinee Series, in-school workshops and arts integration training for teachers; the 10-day Burlington Discover Jazz Festival; residencies providing creation time and space for established, emerging and aspiring local and national artists; a year-round program in performing arts classes and camps for children, teens and adults; and year-round outreach of community-interactive programs aimed at inspiring participation in the creation, understanding, and appreciation of the arts. The Flynn fosters collaborations with artists and arts organizations, community partners, and businesses in the pursuit of richer cultural experiences. Annually, the Flynn serves over 200,000 community members, including 50,000 children statewide.
