Deb Meunier has created and conducted dance education programs for over 28 years in her role as the Artistic Director of Fusionworks Dance Company. She has worked in schools, elementary through college, in museums and galleries, and in festivals. All of her programs are tailored to the needs of each particular organization and they range from a single workshop to a two month in-depth residency.. In an in-depth residency, dances are created working directly out of the academic curriculum and usually culminate in a public performance or an assembly, and can be shared performances with the professional dancers of Fusionworks. On a smaller scale, single dance workshops last 45-60 minutes and are highly participatory (students are creating and moving for 85% of the workshop). Workshops explore concepts in both movement and music and are offered to grades K-college.
Deb received her undergrad degree from RI College and a MALS in World Movement Studies from Wesleyan University. She has been a dance instructor for 40 years and considers herself a life-long learner. Her primary form in teaching and choreography is modern dance, including technique, composition, and improvisation, but she is also versed in ballet technique up to intermediate levels.
