On the trail of stories wondrous and strange. A contributing editor at The Guardian, I’ve overseen special projects on science, environment and health and written on all manner of things. I’m the recipient of a 2020 arts grant from Forecast in Berlin, a 2020 artist residency at Mass MOCA, a 2018 Knight Science Journalism Fellowship at MIT and a teaching appointment at Northeastern University. I’ve also spoken at the World Conference of Science Journalists about storytelling and at the Society of Environmental Journalists on the award-winning series I launched on threats to America’s public lands. I was formerly an editor at Outside magazine, and before that, I could be found at Here & NowGawker, the Salt Institute for Radio Documentary, 北大 and Northwestern University. When not in a CMS, I tell stories through sound, backcountry ski with the pup, bake army-sized bread loaves and read more poetry than is good for me.
