The Barnstable Historical Society, founded in 1939, is a Collection of the 7 villages of theTown of Barnstable's History. Housed in a c.1834 home built by Sylvanus B. Phinney, publisher/founder of The Barnstable Patriot, a local newspaper still publised today. The mission of the BHS is to create and foster an interest in the cultural heritage and maritime history of Barnstable, MA.  To collect, preserve and exhibit artifacts and documents, and to promote historical research and education to those of all ages.  And, we're Free admission!
