Intitially funded by a grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, Arts Transcending Borders (ATB) at the College of the Holy Cross is committed to enhancing the role played by the arts in the development of a liberal arts education that will produce global citizens and creative leaders.
At the heart of the initiative lies a visiting artist program designed to introduce artists and performers into every facet of the liberal arts experience. ATB will achieve this broad and sustained infusion of the arts through a series of artist residencies, master classes, lectures by distinguished scholars and artists, performances, exhibitions, and installations.
ATB programming is organized around annual themes addressed through the residency of a visiting artist and the work(s) that they create or produce in collaboration with students and faculty while on campus.
By fostering enhanced collaborations across disciplines and promoting risk-taking and imaginative problem solving, ATB will enrich the curriculum and further strengthen the College’s ties to cultural institutions in Worcester and beyond.
