Anna Reyes

Anna Reyes is a dancer, choreographer, and teacher based in Boston. Anna Reyes Dance, her company, blends dance with multiple art forms to represent the human experience in its most potent, concentrated form. By joining forces with visual artists and musicians, the company dissects time, space, and movement the way humans dissect the world around them. Most recently, Anna was named a 2015 Boston Center for the Arts Resident Artist. She used her residency to create The Good Parts of Being Alive, a multimedia piece with video and live dance largely inspired by the artwork of Egon Schiele.

Anna is originally from Austin, Texas. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from The Boston Conservatory in May 2011. She receieved additional training at Lines Contemporary Ballet, Jacob's Pillow Contemporary Traditions, The Movement Invention Project, the  Maine Island Dance Festival (on full scholarship). Anna has danced for Lumiarium Dance Company, BoSoma Dance, 1,000 Virtues Dance, Jo-MeDance Theatre and as a freelance artist with Olivier Besson.

In addtional to the stage, Ms. Reyes is an active creator of dance on camera. In 2013, Anna choreographed and starred in "Eighteen," and art film by acclaimed visual artists Hubbard and Birchler, which is currently on exhibit in art gallery internationally. In May 2015, she premiered her Kickstarter-funded film "The Good Parts of Being Alive" (named a Kickstarter Staff Pick) at Make Shift Boston.

Anna is an active teaching arist in the Boston area. She has taught at The Brookline Ballet School, Jeanette Neill School of Dance, and The Brookline Academy of Dance. Most recently, Anna was invited to set work on students at St. Stephen's Episcopal School in Austin, Texas.
