OR Films is a collaboration between Andrea O'Connor, Producer and Screenwriter, and John Rasmussen, Filmmaker and Director, to produce and distribute the film "Dreams & Schemes"", beginning in May 2021 and through 2022. All film work in this profile is created by John Rasmussen.
O'Connor is a Vermont award winning screenwriter with the April 2020 Remi Gold Award, screenplay, from World Fest Houston and a November 2020 Moondance International Film Festival Selection - screenplay. She is also recognized in the genres of fiction and research with the published short story, "Gini" in the Dartmouth College Literary Journal Clamantis 2019 and a story, "Rose" in the upcoming 2021 edition. She received the conference presentation award at the Association of Graduate Liberal Studies Conference, October 2019, for research on mindfulness and human exceptionalism. She focuses her work on individual experience that reflects greater social and human development issues and resonates to the collective. She has a background of 20 years as a marketing manager; eight years self-employed as a yoga and mindfulness teacher; and five years as a writer and matriculated student, now in the Dartmouth Master of Art’s and Liberal Studies Program.
Rasmussen is a Vermont award winning filmmaker and professor at Champlain College, Burlington, VT. His skills in grassroots community and feature filmmaking since 2002 include cinematography, editing, directing, producing and community collaboration. He uses image integrity to gain viewer trust and investment in the story. Fees for his film screenings range from $0-$10. His most cherished achievement is the open-air feature premiere of "Ti Laurent' (see video gallery) projected on the side of a church in an impoverished neighborhood in Haiti. Neighborhood residents were the actors and crew and they stood alongside 300 of their family and friends to see their story on screen. They watched the hour-long film twice in succession. Rasmussen is Assistant Professor of Visual and Performing Arts: Film & Photographic Arts in the Division of Communication and Creative Media. His work ranges from project documentation for organizations such as Oxfam, The United Nations Ethical Fashion Initiative, and AmeriCorps to grassroots local narrative filmmaking in the U.S. and Haiti.
