Amy MacDonald is a journalist, Teaching Artist, and children's author whose award-winning books are available in 30 languages. She has taught literature, creative and narrative writing for all ages including adults (at Harvard University), but is especially interested in working with children (K-12) on writing skills and teachers on professional development (she is a Teaching Artist with the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts).
Workshops range from rhyming books with kindergarteners, to producing a more polished story for gr. 1-4, to narrative writing and non-fiction for gr. 5-12. While incorporating STATE LEARNING STANDARDS, they focus on the writing process, overcoming common obstacles to writing, revision, and persuasive writing. Like Amy's Professional Development workshops, they were created in conjunction with the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts in Washington, DC and have been given in hundreds of schools in the US and internationally.
Professional Development Workshops on teaching writing, evening events, and school assemblies are also available. See Amy's website for details
